We Made It!

Well, after 4 days, 4 bears, 4 moose, 1 bald eagle, countless deer and dull sheep, a herd of buffalo, wild horses, and several caribou Alex and I have finally arrived in Fairbanks, Alaska! It was a very long drive, especially with a U-Haul trailor jammed full of our stuff, but Alex was an excellent driver and we made it to Alaska safely. We set out around 7am Thursday, June 28th and drove almost 500 miles until we camped in Fernie, Alberta for the night. It was a nice campground where we met some....interesting people. The next day was our best day! We left around 6am on Friday, June 29th and drove 727 miles in 16 hours! Alex is AMAZING! We rented a motel room in Fort Nelson, British Columbia that night and tried to get a good night's rest. Saturday was a rough day since it rained all the way through British Columbia, which made for excellent animal viewing opportunities, but slowed traffic down. We finally stopped at a campground in Haines Junction, Yukon after 671 miles. However, somehow the rain got around the tarp that was covering our sleeping bags which were strapped to the roof of our car and we had one blanket to cover us that night. It was a very uncomfortable night to say the least. We were up and gone by 5:30am the next morning and finally reached Fairbanks at 4:00pm on Sunday, July 1st. Overall, the drive was beautiful and the animals were amazing, but we don't plan on doing it again any time soon!
