More and More Pictures!

As promised, here are some more pictures. I think that the smartest thing we did at our wedding was to encourage people to take pictures. We even got disposible cameras to place at every table because a professional photographer can't be everywhere at once. Once again, we would really like to thank everyone for making our day so special.

Catch Up

We got married for all of you hanging on the edge of you seats while waiting for my next post. It was a beautiful day, in the high 70s, despite the days of rain before and after the wedding. I won't bore you with a long worded description of my feelings on the day or anything like that. Instead I'll show you some pictures.

We Made It!

Well, after 4 days, 4 bears, 4 moose, 1 bald eagle, countless deer and dull sheep, a herd of buffalo, wild horses, and several caribou Alex and I have finally arrived in Fairbanks, Alaska! It was a very long drive, especially with a U-Haul trailor jammed full of our stuff, but Alex was an excellent driver and we made it to Alaska safely. We set out around 7am Thursday, June 28th and drove almost 500 miles until we camped in Fernie, Alberta for the night. It was a nice campground where we met some....interesting people. The next day was our best day! We left around 6am on Friday, June 29th and drove 727 miles in 16 hours! Alex is AMAZING! We rented a motel room in Fort Nelson, British Columbia that night and tried to get a good night's rest. Saturday was a rough day since it rained all the way through British Columbia, which made for excellent animal viewing opportunities, but slowed traffic down. We finally stopped at a campground in Haines Junction, Yukon after 671 miles. However, somehow the rain got around the tarp that was covering our sleeping bags which were strapped to the roof of our car and we had one blanket to cover us that night. It was a very uncomfortable night to say the least. We were up and gone by 5:30am the next morning and finally reached Fairbanks at 4:00pm on Sunday, July 1st. Overall, the drive was beautiful and the animals were amazing, but we don't plan on doing it again any time soon!

New Car!

The bride-to-be has put a down-payment on this 2003 Mazda Tribute! It is everything that we have been looking for in a car with one catch...its has a manual transmission. This is no big deal to me, but Beth doesn't know how to drive one...or should I say didn't know how to. In just two days behind the wheel, clutch, and stick, she is almost ready to move from parking lots to the streets. Pretty impressive if you ask me!

His Story

Am I a Traitor?
I first heard of Beth before she was even a student at GU. I used to play basketball with a guy on the team, and he talked about his girlfriend from Alaska who would be coming to Washington the following semester (luckily for me...they didn't last very long). Beth then became friends with one of my roommates, but we still never really connected. It wasn't until two years after I first heard tale of Beth, at her roomates party, that we finally got to know each other. Being the only two people at the party who were not drinking we got to enjoy each other's company all night long. We have been together ever since, and I can honestly say that that night and I knew that we would be together forever (sorry for the corniness, but its true).

Her Story

Alex and I met while we were both attending Gonzaga University. We had mutual friends in the same circle for a couple of years and then became closer in January of 2005. I knew Alex was a genuine and sincere person after dating him for only a short time. He is everything I've ever dreamed of having in a husband.

Proposal Story

On December 22, 2006 Alex and I were at my parents' house in Faribanks when we decided we wanted to watch a movie. We went into my parents' bedroom because that is where my dad keeps an immense dvd collection under lock and key. However, I could not find the key anywhere and began calling my dad to find out where it was stashed. In the meantime, Alex is panicking because he had asked for my dad's blessing that morning and thought he would spill the beans if I called. As the phone rings, I hear Alex, "Beth, what's this?" he called from the floor, as if he had found something. I hung up the phone, thinking he had found the key on the floor. Then he held up a ring and after I finally realized what was going on and I was getting much more than a movie from the locked box, he asked me to marry him and I said yes.
